More Makeup Shots For Jen

My daughter Jennifer is working on a portfolio for her makeup and hair. Today she wanted to show her skills with Gothic style makeup.

As with her last shoot, we were working on a very cramped balcony with natural light; luckily it wasn’t raining this time! We also had limited time to get the shots done as once again, we were working whilst her son Jackson was having his afternoon nap.

I used a black sheet pegged up as a background, and a white reflector tilted on the ground towards her to bounce some light back onto her face. On either side of her I used black boards to absorb light and accentuate her cheekbones. This gave the images a slightly more dramatic look to suit her make up.

When we’d finished with Jen’s Gothic look, she scuttled off into her bedroom saying, “Quick before Jackson wakes up, I wan’t to try one more look.” Jen wasn’t gone long before she emerged from her room with another dramatic look. I was suitably impressed.

For the last shots I kept the background black, but replaced the black boards with white to give a softer, flatter look more suited to beauty shots.
